But look at where you're now, how far you've managed to climb. They say the harder your climb is, the prettier vista you'll get to see when you look down.<br /><br />And indeed you haven't been truly alone. You had cafes - your incorporate allies. Salaried knights accompanying you in your travels, protecting you in the uneven fight with the dreadful gaijin status. Some say being a foreigner in a big Japanese city is the most extreme alienation a human being can experience.<br /><br />So let the coffee chain tycoons prosper. Let them keep coming up with their season-themed lattes and their addictive cookie dough.
